I TOTALLY agree — with EVERYTHING that you said…I am pretty new to Medium but I definitely see the listicle, market-y type writing creeping in which is exactly the type of stuff that I felt so much pressure to create on my own blog — AND it is exactly why I am focusing more on Medium than my standalone blog for now — to get away from that stuff…SO, while I don’t love seeing more and more of that writing that is so painfully obviously created for clicks and page views, as long as Medium continues to inspire me to write honest, genuine content that I am writing because I want to and not for clicks or claps or likes or any of that stuff, then it is serving its purpose 😊 — looks like we will just need to ramp up our own creative, non-click-baity content and drown out the other junk!
